MIDDLETOWN Firefighters extinguished a stubborn, early-morning garbage truck fire Wednesday after cooling its tank to keep it from exploding, a fire official said. There is no impact to sanitation collections for Monday and they remain on a normal schedule. This information my change as all vehicles in the fleet are assessed. At this time, it appears that five vehicles are a total loss and we are evaluating two other vehicles for damages. We are relieved and pleased that no one was injured.
